Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 20

So, since Sunday night, there has been a total of 120 hours. A normal, healthy human should have spent 1/3 of that asleep. I have spent about 1/5 of that asleep!

I am not exaggerating. My average is 5 hours per night. Why? because "Let's pile on the workload 2 weeks before the end on quarter!"
Since Wednesday morning, I've had 2 tests and a quiz. I have 2 more tests and a DBQ tomorrow. plus not to mention a huge review guide for bio and a bunch of notes on a stupid excuse of a book. Then next week, I have a math test, and a week long simulation in English and history, where I have to spend 2 class periods every day pretending to be Khrushchev!

Right now, I'm sleep deprived, studying biology, and I have yet to start prepping for my English essay test or DBQ tomorrow. I'm on my 2nd mug of coffee, and I'm out of milk (yayyyyy....)
And no, it's not that I delayed my work till last minute, I literally have not had time since last Wednesday. From Thursday till Saturday, I was at CWU, at the WA state thespian conference (amazing, loved it! plus, I made out with a person I knew for like 3 hours before I went to a dance we had with her) then Sunday I had tennis for 2 hours, and a family dinner, so I barely got caught up! Monday? caught up on in class work I didn't do on Friday! Tuesday? Tenis, plus studying for test and quiz! Wednesday? see Tuesday, minus tennis, but 4 1/2 hours of auditioning at school for a play! Today? See Tuesday!

TL,DR-I'm a pissed off, sleep deprived AF high school student who is out of milk for his coffee.

Have a Fiat 125 for your troubles

I usually only sleep 3 hours a day during school weeks(weekends excluded). Why? I just can't fall asleep, not that I have homework to do or stuff like that.

When I was in high school (mid 00's), I only got 4-6 hours of sleep a night because I was wired to be up late. I wouldn't even feel remotely sleepy until 1-4am. Bleh.

I know dat feel.

The part that caught my eye was the coffee bit. Must have been how I was raised. Coffee just... didn't happen. Didn't start drinking it until ~1 year ago... [/random]

I'm 15, and two venti sized coffees have no effect on me.
Heck, loud EDM is better than hot coffee at this point!

Ugh, DBQ sounds so familiar but I feel like it's a suppressed memory by now... Anyways, while you probably won't do nearly as many extracurricular things in college you'll probably find yourself in the same situation on plenty of occasions.

I found doing something fun would allow me to stay up pretty much all night. Doing homework, however, would make my eyes burn with exhaustion after a few minutes. Good luck!

In college I spent a few weeks on 5 hrs sleep/week. I went home for a nap when I walked into the machine shop without safety glasses - a mistake I have only ever made one other time.

I don't envy my friend who once had to transcribed my sleep-deprived ramblings into our final report. Pretty sure I said something along the lines of "Yeah, and by doing that operation we something something something found the fuel economy blergh read the comments in the code."

You'll pull through. This is what makes you a stronger person inside.

"high school" You don't understand sleep deprivation yet. I hope you don't go into engineering.

Guess what? Life is hard.

Sorry I can't be more encouraging, but yeah. Depending on your major college will be way worse. My senior year of college I worked on my design project from about 6 AM to 12 AM every day, getting around 4 hours of sleep a night.

You get used to it

Khrushchev? Don't forget the shoe-banging.

Rough week, dude. It will get worse in college though.

Were you in Architecture? My college, the architects were known on campus as the hardest working with the longest hours followed by either nursing or engineering. When I moved in with my girlfirend (now wife) she thought I had a lot wrong with me. She would go to bed get up for work and come home and I hadn't moved from the same seat. In the end I had a killer model of a hotel which to her surprise now contained our xmas tree lights. Thats what happens when you have 3 redbulls, a couple shots of 151 and no sleep. Its stuff like that, that makes everything else easier.

Architects can suck it. I was in aerospace engineering, our senior design at my school was brutal. 5 reports with each taking close to 100 hours of work, and you had basically 3 weeks for each. I say basically because they were graded so tough that you really had to spend the last few days proofreading. All while taking 3 or 4 other classes, with another one that had a major project due at the end of the semester. By the end of it I had a nearly 600 page book of reports about the design of my airplane and an awful cold that I got while working overtime trying to finish the last report before Thanksgiving.

It was like paying to work a full time job with overtime while studying rocket science at night school. I went entire weeks without seeing my roommates.

Same. I didn't drink coffee until after college. Even now I don't drink it that often, I certainly don't drink it every morning.

I had one week that was sort of like that. Not as bad, but I went like 3 days with practically no sleep working on a project for a competition. One night at about 11 on day 3 of working I just suddenly felt horrible, like, 'I think I might die' levels of awful. I got really hot, my heartrate went up, etc. I turned to my friends/team members and was just like uh, this can't be good. I need sleep. I'll be back in a few hours.
